I woke up this morning and went to plug in my phone charger like I do every day, and nothing happened. At first I thought maybe the charger had just died, but then I tried the lamp and the TV and nothing worked either, so clearly something is going on with the outlets in my bedroom. I checked the breaker box and nothing was tripped, which confused me even more because I don't know what else could cause a whole section of outlets to just stop working all of a sudden. I tried resetting the GFCI outlets in the bathroom and kitchen just in case they were connected somehow, but that didn't make any difference either. I'm not an electrician by any stretch of the imagination, so I'm completely in the dark about what could be causing this and whether it's a simple fix or something more serious. The weird thing is that the lights in the bedroom still work fine, it's just the outlets that seem to have gone dead, so I'm wondering if it's a wiring issue that's specific to that circuit. I know I shouldn't be messing around with electrical stuff on my own because I could end up hurting myself or making things worse, but I also hate the idea of paying someone hundreds of dollars just to flip a switch or reset something I could have done myself. I think I need to find someone who offers rapid electrical repairs by local electricians so I can get this sorted out quickly without having to wait days for an appointment. Has anyone else experienced a situation where only the outlets stopped working but the lights were fine? What ended up being the cause and how much did it cost to fix? I just want to be able to charge my phone in my bedroom again without having to sit on the floor in the hallway like some kind of peasant.
